Crypto casino and sportsbook Gamdom lost more than $3 million in an Oct. 13 hot-wallet breach, according to founder Felix Romer, although independent blockchain analysis places the damage closer to $4.2 million. The attack involved unauthorized access to an automation server, prompting the company to shut down operations and transfer remaining assets into cold storage. By Oct. 15, the platform was still struggling to return online.
A suspected disk failure turned into a multimillion-dollar security nightmare for crypto casino Gamdom this week, after investigators discovered an unauthorized connection to an automation server and a breach targeting the platform’s hot wallets. Founder Felix Romer acknowledged losing just over $3 million, although blockchain investigators have calculated considerably higher losses.
The Oct. 13 incident forced Gamdom offline, sent its remaining hot-wallet assets into cold storage , and left customers waiting for access even as the company insisted their funds were safe.
The first signs of trouble surfaced Oct. 13, when blockchain trackers identified substantial transfers from Gamdom-linked wallets across several blockchains, including Ethereum , Solana, and Tron.
Fairgambling’s tracker recorded approximately $10.5 million in monitored wallet holdings Oct. 12, compared with roughly $76,000 the following day. That difference does not independently establish the amount stolen, particularly because the operator subsequently transferred remaining assets into cold storage.
On Oct. 13, the company disclosed that what appeared to be a disk failure had led investigators to discover an unauthorized server connection. “User funds are safe. We are working to restore services as quickly and securely as possible,” the operator stated.
Romer subsequently acknowledged a hot-wallet breach costing just over $3 million, explaining that Gamdom had stopped the drain and secured remaining assets.
Independent investigator vxdb offered a larger estimate of approximately $4.2 million, including $2.2 million across Ethereum-compatible networks, $965,000 on Solana, $668,000 in bitcoin, and $375,000 on Tron.
The discrepancy remains unexplained. Blockchain movements can include internal transfers, complicating efforts to distinguish stolen funds from assets relocated for safekeeping.
By Oct. 15, Gamdom’s recovery was still incomplete. Romer acknowledged the delay , writing, “Still taking some more time to bring it all back.” The operator has not released a comprehensive forensic account, and no customer-balance losses have been independently established.
For customers, the distinction between protected balances and inaccessible accounts remains consequential, especially while the platform’s restoration timetable keeps slipping.
