UK banking company insists customers’ funds and data are safe despite problems with sign-in, card payments, transfers and withdrawals
Revolut customers have been unable to access their money after the banking app went down, affecting a number of services including card payments, cash withdrawals and transfers.
The UK banking company said its app was down because of a “service disruption” affecting several services, but insisted that customers’ funds and data were safe.
Revolut said its services were currently “partially unavailable”, with problems affecting its sign-up, sign-in, card payments, transfers, ATM withdrawals and cryptocurrency services.
Revolut users reported error alerts when they tried to check their accounts. When opening the app, they received a “something went wrong” message, instructing them to “try again later”, and leaving them unable to access their funds.
In a statement, Revolut said: “We are currently experiencing a service disruption affecting multiple services. We can confirm that all our customers’ money and data are safe. We’ve been working to fix the issue since it was identified this morning and apologise to anyone affected and for any inconvenience caused.”
Revolut is not the only company experiencing problems. Its outage could be linked to issues with Google’s cloud services. The two companies have a strategic partnership , under which Revolut uses Google Cloud’s scalable infrastructure to operate its services.
Several fintech companies have been affected after Google reported that “multiple Google Cloud services are experiencing elevated errors and intermittent network failures in europe-west2 region,” adding that it did not have a workaround.
