Citi Research spotlighted AAVE as a major player in tokenized finance, calling it the most important real-world use case for tokenized finance.
The latest Citi Research highlighted Aave as a leading collateral mobility protocol for tokenized capital markets. This positions Aave as one of the most significant real-world user cases for tokenized finance.
According to the report , Aave V4 has bridged collateral, liquidity, and financing, thus positioning it as a decentralized prime brokerage. Aave can now take functions that move tens of trillions of dollars in traditional finance (TradFi). Therefore, in the future, Aave could become the go-to layer for financing tokenized assets once they move on-chain.
Stani Kulechov, Founder and CEO, praised the report, noting that it offers a great overview of where the future of finance is going. He added that Aave is building the backbone of all future finance.
In addition to its emerging influence in DeFi, Kulechov posited that stock borrowing has great room for growth.
Responding to reports that stocks have continued to grow, reaching $15 million, Kulechov added that Aave is already a multi-million dollar market for borrowing.
As more stocks move on-chain, this becomes a $200 trillion plus opportunity.
Although Stani is very optimistic, Active Loans in the Aave protocol have struggled to recover from the April security incident.
Active loans have remained way below the $18 billion recorded in April. However, after dropping to $9 billion, the number has since rebounded to $12 billion.
The gradual recovery probably offers a glimpse of the optimism observed in the market.
Moreover, capital also continues to flow into the protocol. Between the 19th and 20th of October, for example, the protocol recorded over $213 million in USD inflows. The rising inflows suggested increased demand for the Protocol.
Despite its growing influence within the DeFi, AAVE has shown relative weakness on the charts.
Since facing rejection at $187 two weeks ago, AAVE has held within a descending channel. The altcoin breached the $150 support and plunged to $148 at press time.
The price decline indicates that the price has yet to reflect the growing optimism around Aave borrowing or its role in finance.
In the short term, if Citi Research spotlights, it incentivizes investors to return, and we could see a rebound towards $175. However, if the current direction persists, the altcoin is likely to breach $140 with a potential drop to $134.
