StandX, a decentralized perpetual futures exchange (Perp DEX) founded by former Binance Futures head Aaron Gong and other industry veterans, has announced that it will gradually shut down operations and abandon plans to launch its native platform token.

The decision follows a strategic review of its business and market conditions. Since launching its mainnet in November 2025, StandX has served more than 237,000 users and recorded a peak total value locked (TVL) of over $200 million.

In fact, the platform has experienced zero fund security incidents throughout its operating history. Still, the firm’s decision to shutdown has raised questions across the crypto community.

The shutdown means users will gradually lose access to the platform’s trading and yield-generating services. That said, from the 15th of October, 2026, all yield distributions, including DUSD yield, position yield, market-making rewards, and referral commissions, will end.

Meanwhile, new vaults and deposits into existing vaults will also close.

Going forward, perpetual futures trading will become ‘reduce-only’ on the 20th of October. This means that users can reduce or close existing positions but cannot open new positions or increase their exposure.

As expected, new registrations and DUSD minting will also stop.

Then by the next year, on 15th January 2027, StandX will also close all remaining open positions at the prevailing mark price, cancel outstanding orders, and settle its vaults.

Now, to avoid complications, users will be allowed to withdraw their assets and submit DUSD redemption requests by the 31st of January, 2027. That’s when withdrawals and redemptions will close and the platform will gradually cease operations.

Needless to say, redemptions submitted by the deadline may take up to seven days to complete, with the current process expected to finish by the 7th of February.

Now, despite scrapping its token launch, StandX plans to distribute a one-time DUSD airdrop to eligible community members. The distribution will be funded by the project’s remaining revenue and additional contributions from the team.

Here, the allocations will depend on user activity, including pre-deposits, Alpha participation, mainnet trading, market making, and referrals, subject to anti-Sybil and wash-trading checks.

For this, the airdrop checker will go live on the 26th of October, 2026, while claims will open on the 1st of November and close on the 31st of December, 2026.

Eligible users can claim their full allocation without a lockup and transfer, trade, or redeem their DUSD immediately. Because post that, unclaimed allocations will be forfeited.

This coincided with Blur, once the largest marketplace for trading Ethereum NFTs, recently announcing plans to deprecate its website frontend on the 12th of November, 2026.

Additionally, Ethereum Layer 2 network Blast will also shut down by the end of October 2026, citing operational costs that exceed revenue and a lack of a credible path to long-term sustainability.

Yet despite all of this, AMBCrypto’s previous report indicated that only nine crypto exchanges and trading platforms announced or completed shutdowns this year, the lowest annual count in at least eight years.
